First activity: Steering Committee



Our first activity will take place in Santiago de Compostela, in Spain; a steering commitee to organize the full development of the project.
Every member will prepare in advance a report of the situation in his/her country on Collective Bargaining and the Gig Economy, according to a grid prepared by the coordinator of the project and the co-applicants. Each paper will be exposed and discussed in the SC. As a result, common trends will be identified in order to prepare a comparative analysis. These trends will be taken into account for the preparation of the first Transnational Seminar; the second day will be devoted to its planning: issues and speakers. The second half of the second day will be devoted to internal organizational issues.

Short summary of the COGENS action

This Project follows the path of previous research by the INLACRIS team. Since its first works in 2010, the approach has changed to a great extent. The traditional structures of collective bargaining have been decisively affected by the crisis, as well as important features of the labour market. The current scenario can be described as a never-before perceived evasion of labour law, where traditional structures are eroding. The challenges labour law is facing right now due to the gig-economy, digitalization and the erosion of the employment contract promise to be severe and long-lasting.     COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AND THE GIG ECONOMY:  NEW PERSPECTIVES SUMMARY [1]   I.              GENERAL FRAMEWORK A variety of situations Gig economy is a latent issue, and its regulation is extremely diverse in the Member States of the European Union. This is particularly true for collective bargaining in this field. The variety of legal traditions regarding collective bargaining in the Member States is reflected by the variety of the Member States’ approaches towards (not) regulating collective bargaining for persons working in the gig economy.
